ABOUT US...

Groundsmiths was established in 2009 to service Chesterfield and the surrounding areas. Since then we have completed over 420 projects and have developed close working relationships with a client base of self-builders and developers who are involved with the regeneration of brownfield and greenfield sites for commercial, industrial and residential end use.

Our work is centred on providing cost effective and bespoke solutions to problems associated with the redevelopment of land that is often affected by mining legacy, geotechnical issues as well as soil, groundwater and ground gas contamination. We encompass all aspects of site characterisation and work closely with a select group of fellow professionals including independent planning consultants, civils and drainage engineers, architects, plant hire and drilling contractors, and structural engineers who are local to the area.

ROTARY DRILLING...

"Those old miners have a lot to answer for!"

Drilling is often an integral part to the investigation of a development site, but unfortunately the risks and costs associated with the assessment and treatment of ancient coal and ironstone mining are often overlooked, or misunderstood at best. Chesterfield and its surrounding area is 'mining country' so there's every chance that your development could be affected by shallow mining legacy if you are building here.

Groundsmiths have worked on many development sites with complex mining legacy. We are ideally positioned to assist you with your scheme, so contact us to discuss your requirements.
